Weekend Streaming: Week 21

Searching for five players to help you win your Week 21 matchup.

Welcome back to another weekend streaming article where I select five players based on hot streaks, pitching/team matchups, or a combination of things to help fantasy owners acquire cheap, low-roster rate (35% or below) production to help win the last two days of their weekly matchups. This week, I’ll be highlighting five players who have been rolling production-wise heading into late-August.

Let’s dive into Week 21…

Noelvi Marte, INF/OF, Cincinnati Reds

Marte, 23, has had such an interesting career to this point. A huge top prospect acquired by the Reds in the Luis Castillo trade, he burst onto the scene originally with his new team, then dealt with injuries and was suspended for 80 games last season for PEDs. This year has been no different – he slashed .294/.342/.515 with a 132 wRC+ from the beginning of the year through May 4, tweaked his left oblique and was shelved, it got upgraded to a Grade 2 strain, and when he returned, the results were “so-s0”. But, since July 20, Marte is slashing .320/.352/.538 with 13 extra-base hits and a 142 wRC+. He’s currently amid an eleven-game hit streak, with eight games (including his past five!) being of the multi-hit variant with a statline of .447 AVG, 3 HR, 7 R, 12 RBI, and 235 wRC+ over that span. It’s absurd what he’s doing, and he’s only getting better with more reps.

Mike Yastrzemski, OF, Kansas City Royals

Yaz has put together a mediocre year, slashing .230/.329/.388, but has really seen the offensive production tick up lately. Over the past week: .353/.450/.941 with 3 HR and a 267 wRC+. He’s a major walk threat (13%) and with the hits starting to pile up, he’s become a cheap, solid streaming option for this weekend.

Nabil Crismatt, RHP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Who?! Let me fill you in — Crismatt, 30, has appeared in the majors for four different teams since 2020. He owns a career 3.66 ERA/3.91 FIP through 180 innings, though he’s never been close to topping his career high of 81.1 IP from 2021 in San Diego. This year, Crismatt returned to the Diamondbacks, where he just made his first major league start last week, tossing five innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts against the Rockies. He turned in whopping underlying metrics despite subpar “stuff” – 26% K, 38% CSW, 18% SwStr, 5.31 PLV on 71% strikes. If you need innings or want to take a flier on a prove-it arm, this is your guy.

Rostered: sub-1% (Yahoo)

Jung Hoo Lee, OF, San Francisco Giants

Lee, just a day over 27 years old, has been mashing nonstop. It’s gotten out of hand, really… since July 1st (159 PA), Lee’s posted a .306/.352/.463 slash line with a sub-12% strikeout rate. Out of the 39 games he appeared in over that span, he’s only gone hitless in SIX of them. In the month of August alone, Lee has only gone hitless once, amassing 23 knocks in 68 at-bats (.338), good for a .910 OPS and 155 wRC+. He carries a nine-game hit streak into play today (4 extra-base hits over that span) and would be a valuable addition to any team.

Rostered: 29% (Yahoo)

Davis Martin, RHP, Chicago White Sox

Martin, 28, has had himself a solid year, posting a 3.94 ERA in 107.1 innings. In his last time out, he tossed six scoreless innings against the Royals, striking out four and allowing just one hit. Martin’s changeup excels (.202 BAA, 5.26 PLV), and it’s paired with a cutter/four-seam combo that generates a lot more swinging strikes than you’d expect. The stuff won’t overpower hitters all that often, but he can provide solid depth towards the back end of your rotation.
