Catching news from last week and streamers for next.

You’ve come to the right place to find all the catchers that are fit to stream. Here’s a look at each team’s schedule and their starting and backup catcher options. Make sure to scroll to the right to see the full week’s worth of matchups.

Depth Chart and Matchups

* Liam Hicks (MIA) is also in the mix, looks to be the actual third option

** Miguel Amaya (CHC) is still getting starts, likely not for long as Ballesteros adjusts

*** Yohel Pozo (STL) has had one start in the past week, likely just easing Herrera in

Catcher News and Playing Time Changes

Carlos Narváez has started eight games at catcher compared to Connor Wong’s five in the 13 games since Wong’s return from the injured list at the start of May. Narvaez has a .763 OPS with four home runs in 31 games on the season, with a .462 average in the last 14 days. Wong is struggling at the plate, and the younger Narvaez could cement himself as the primary catcher going forward. He’s available in nearly every league and could be a good speculative addition. He’s not a bad streaming target either; he faces some tough starting pitching to start the week, but lines up against Baltimore in the second half.

The Cubs called up Moisés Ballesteros, who has seen two starts at DH but zero at catcher. I suspect he’ll be the proper backup behind Carson Kelly before long, and he’s being eased in while Miguel Amaya is productive at the plate.

Dalton Rushing made his Dodgers debut Thursday, going 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 runs. Will Smith isn’t going anywhere, and I think the Dodgers will prioritize the health of their backup catcher and keep Rushing out of the outfield. Too bad they have Shohei Ohtani clogging up that DH spot.

Kyle Higashioka is healthy for the Rangers. He and Jonah Heim had split starts more or less down the middle when the two were healthy to start the season. Neither is hitting well in the past week, so I’d expect the status quo to hold.

Streaming Options

Carlos Narváez 1% on Yahoo: (BOS): Narvaez is hitting well with a .474 average and a home run in the last week. He has won the starting job, at least for now. He gets the Mets, including the rocky Tylor Megill, and then the back half of the Orioles rotation to close the week.

Drake Baldwin 8% on Yahoo: (ATL): Baldwin is beyond on fire, batting .609 with two homers in the last two weeks. He’s still the backup, but the Braves will find a way to get him in the lineup. He starts the week with a good matchup against the Nationals, too.

Iván Herrera 49% on Yahoo: (STL): Pushing the definition of a streamer a bit, but Herrera is playing too well not to get a special mention. He’s 10 for 22 in six games with a homer and 7 RBI. He looked like the breakout catcher of the year before his IL stint, and he hasn’t missed any time continuing his campaign.

Alejandro Kirk 9% on Yahoo: (TOR): Kirk is batting .368 with one home run in the last week. He’ll start the week against Dylan Cease, but it’s much smoother sailing the rest of the way.
